This old theatre stands right front of the beach in Kaikoura.

Great building, great shot! :)

I remember when we went there in 1992 it was a white movie theatre and we thought, "Gee, this one is coming down in a few years," but I"m really glad they've kept it. It's in a prime spot and could easily be replaced by a mega-condo. Kaikoura is famous for whale watching and crayfish; I'd love to spend a few days there again, but it seems Ben's always driving down there while I attend workshops in Blenheim.

that would make a great painting....

The colors are striking. I like the guy reading the poster.

Thank you all!
It's really great place. I took photo without that guy as well, but like Faye said I liked this one better. He gives additional dimension that indicating the theatre is ALIVE!

That is interesting and great I think, to have a theater just in front of the beach. I like the colors and architecture. Yes, that guy definetly adds up proportion to the scene.

Thanks Carlos! I'm glad you agree.

I LOVE this old beach theater - and it's decked out sailor-style with the little red stripes - very nice!

Sailor style - right you are. I've been reading about a big residential development down there, though. Yikes. Might go back in late Summer (Feb/March) to check it out myself.
