Newmans

This is the other side of the wall seen on the left in Tuesday's photo. My gym was here until February, and before that, a career center helping young people find career paths and jobs.

I saw on Saturday that at one time Newmans was here: Newmans is a coach line still in operation, but as you can see from this map, not around Nelson. A good friend's grandfather was involved with Newmans at one time, I think.

Great composition, angling the camera to the chain link fence like that - gives it nice depth.

Thanks, Paul. I'll check again next week if this wall is still there, but I think a plan I saw about a year ago had this entire area opened up as a courtyard eating space. Until I was preparing this post, I hadn't realized that Newmans was still alive and well, except in this area.

I'm in my thirties and I grew up in Nelson. When I was a small child right up to my early teens I quite often got a bus to Motueka to visit my grandmother. There used to be an old coach (as in coach and horses)in the depot/station which my grandmother said they used to use before there were buses. That would have been amazing.

Gee, I wonder how long it would have taken lead by horses to Mot; back then, it might have been the Old Moutere Highway, too. I'm thinking of something like a half day's journey.
