The Lunar Eclipse in the NZ sky tonight. This was taken in front of our front door. I only have a 210mm zoom and this is the best I can do. I need your 500mm, JB.PS. Check out Keith's shot!

14 Mates:
I know your pain I only had a 200mm lens as well (ordered a 1.7 teleconverter yesterday)
I like the way you have framed this as the moon needs space for the total effect to work
That's a beauty.
Sally from Syd also caught it. It was raining in Singapore, so we could only catch it via Webcast! haha..
Watch the eclipse via the Discovery Channel website live webcasting.
Great shot Ben. Don't know much about lens but I think this picture is just fine.
Well done! Much better than my lame efort. But I still wanted to record it.
what a lovely night
Perfect poster-like image. I'd frame it and put it on the wall!
It looks like you had beautiful clear skies over Nelson.
Cheers!
Great photo! Since I missed the eclipse due to cloudy skies, I'm glad you caught it.
Thanks all!
Yeah, Keith yours a good 200 and can take TC. But mine cannot, it makes too dark. It is not sharp enough to my like... but you are right, It ends up quite good balance with space around. I didn't even think about time-lapse but, hey, yours a excellent!
even this shot is amazing:) So the earth is really a globe..you can see the moon too:)hehe
This is great, Ben. I really like the white highlight on the upper right, and also the way you composed this image, as Keith said. I went out last night and got some shots of the "sturgeon moon" like this. Mine on Flying today are from early in the morning of the eclipse.
Now I'll check Keith's out . . .
Nah, you don't need the 500mm, Ben.
This is cool enough.
More than cool.
Still, a good shot of the eclipse. I remember back in March when I took a shot of the lunar eclipse. I uploaded it to flickr and people went crazy about it! The moon is a popular object for photographers!
You boys stop comparing your lenses right now. Or do I have to go find a parapsychologist blogger? Ha ha!!
Thanks everyone for comment. That is a very nice experience to witness such a eclipse. I cannot wait for 2014!
