Pottery, Anna Barnett

A small Raku vase by Anna Barnett, one of our favorite Nelson potter. Construction continues at my house, so I'm being challenged for ideas and subjects to shoot. This vase and its two mates, among other things, had been evacuated to the study. The colors have been tampered with; I posted another rendition here. Here's a photo of the tiny orange one.

  1. That is beautiful. At first I thought it was the moon and that you had brought out the colors.

  2. This is amazing - I thought the same as Jacob; a planet of some sorts.

  3. Thank you, both. The Moon, or something up there, was what I was going for. I have another, much smaller one, that's more muted oranges and browns that's absolutely beautiful, but I'm finding it a little harder to photograph thus far. I will give that one a go, too.

  4. I saw the small thumbnail of this at my blog in my 'Favourite Blogs' section and thought the same. Either the Moon or a planet. I like it, it's very interesting to look at and would probably match most decors.

    Cheers

  5. Ahhhh, Pete, "decors". We are currently going through a "middle of a renovation" period. Blue tarp and all. Hopefully it will be remedied soon, but before that, we need to wash down and repaint at least the kitchen and the living room, but ideally a bit beyond. Yikes!

  6. Hi, George. Thanks. On her behalf, I guess.

  7. Now I want a game of marbles. Can you still get those I wonder. It is a very mesmerising piece and yes a small planet came to mind.

  8. Baboshka, marbles, or glass beads, would make interesting subject, yes. Not just in shooting, but tampering with colors and effects later as well.

  9. Well, I thought it was a satellite photo of Earth...

  10. Marc, see the rubbish bag used as the backdrop?
