Waterfront

We woke up to Tsunami alert broadcast this morning. Of course the photo was taken a few days ago, and was quite coincidental, but we are expecting some waves in two hours. Because Nelson's coast is away from the open sea, I don't think we'll see anything discernible to the untrained eye, but rest assured we live halfway up a hill. Our thoughts are with you, Chile.

Wakefield Quay

Last night we had fish and chips with JB and Mrs JB. JB took a picture of a dead bird, so you might see it in Mainz or Away. He was wearing this T-shirt: what do you say to a guy wearing this?

My camera went to the hospital, so NDP will be all Ben's for a while.

Holding

At Sealevel Studio, Tasman.
I have two different B&W conversion for this.
Here and here.

I promise this is last and moving on.   You must go there and find more of those,. It's fun to search those as well as excellent art work displayed in the gallery.
I have Tim's latest work, but I need a permission before posting here, so maybe some other time.

Holding the Torch (Albeit Upside Down)

At Sealevel Studio, Tasman.

JB of Mainz, Germany has been lurking around here, in person, so you can see some more of Nelson in his Mainz DP blog, temporarily named, "Not the Nelson Daily Photo".

Power to the People

Metal Sculptor Che Vincent told Tim, "Hey we need some spotlights in the gallery," and before Tim could say, "Oh, yeah..." Che had put these guys to work.

You wouldn't believe this is a serious sculpture gallery and workshop, would you? At Tim's Sealevel Studio, Tasman.

Miss Bug

Last night, Tim and Claudia invited us for the best-ever lasagna we've had, and then gave us one of Tim's "bugs". Ben and I were just thrilled to be on Team Tim Wraight in helping with the website we were overwhelmed by the gift, but the she looks so cute we couldn't refuse.

It's not big, standing at 11cm at the tail, but it has a commanding presence on our big coffee table. Tim didn't know the gender, but I think the cheekiness I sense means she's a girl.

Constructing a Website

Motueka Sculptor Tim Wraight and designer/partner Claudia Lacher came to our house yesterday to construct Tim's website.

I've been bugging these two about it since June 06 to get his website up, and it's wonderful to see it finally up and running. It'll be fine-tuned in the next few days, but the gallery is loaded, and you heard it here first:

The city of Eureka, California, one of Nelson's sister cities, is going to install a piece Tim gifted some years ago in a new building, we hear. That'll be exciting, too.

I was playing with program to make this bottom half retain tits colour but gradually turned to monochrome towards to the top half. This is taken near the camp ground near the edge of Tahunanui back beach.

Theme Day: Wood

What can you see?  I thought a wild pig at fist glance.  It's actually a remain of tree trunk.
