Art in Construction Site

The art work, "Southern Cross" by Bruce Mitchell, 1992, (Golden Bay black marble) is now in the middle of the Trafalgar Street construction site. Infrastructure upgrade is being carried out throughout the CBD.

Here is the another shot before this construction was started.
I've just recalled this after reading Faye's comment...

  1. I like the artwork but not where it's at. All in the name of progress.

  2. It certainly doesn't look very impressive amid the mess of construction. It does make an interesting photo though. I like the B&W.

You'll have to show it to us again when its back in place.

  3. Wow. I am dumbfounded that the piece is not boxed-in to prevent damage.

If you visited my blog yesterday and left a comment about our 52nd wedding anniversary, I wanted to say, "Thanks."

  4. If you didn't mention that this is a sclupture. I thought it was materials, part of the construction. It just too bad there no barriers to protect it from construction.

  5. I'm amazed that this isn't protected while construction is going on. It does make an interesting composition and the choice of black and white is perfect for it.

  6. I haven't thought about the protection. I guess I'm too mush used to see those situation? Well, the sculpture is made from a black marble and pretty solid, but that is not the reason for no protection I guess.

    Thanks for visiting.
