It's a part of rusty anchor on the rock. You can find this at Mapua.

I just took it from the living room, 30min ago. It's not quite sharp because it was taken through the double glazed (not so clean) window.
It's not B&W, but it has applied different white balance.

A Photo for Brunch

I told a wise mother in New South Wales this morning that Ben was on the floor swapping innards of four computers, that it was like having a giant toddler because his ability to converse was impaired (more than usual), that the only difference between a real toddler and Ben was the price of the bits strewn on the floor that I needed to avoid, because they may fetch a couple of buck on eBay. To which Hope replied, I had no idea about the price of toys nowadays. Touché!

Ben said I can post this pic only if I cooked breakfast for him. It's 11;58 now.

The Cut

I guess I have to post this at least once a year or may be more. To me, this is the true landmark of the Nelson and view from here is the best. - The horizon is bit distorted because of the composition and wide angle lens I used for the shot. It usually looks straight. - Just for you to know...

No E's, Nor I's, but Only $1

Spotted in the window of this store Friday afternoon. But I've not seen anything cuter than these there, though.

It looks like close to harvest. Once the harvest is done those net should be gone and show us a beautiful rusty colours later on. The WOOLLASTON Estate is a vineyard in the Nelson region. They produce a range of very good wine.

Not Quite Origami

But a reconstructed paper crane, but still eye-catching, in the window of a fashion shop.

Ben is Temporary Out of Circulation

He got a new computer this morning, so he'll be playing with that all weekend. I'm glad not only because he's happy, but also because his old one sometimes sounds like a group of boy racers having fun in our basement, particularly around 1AM on Saturdays.

One of the first things he'll install is a double guitar lesson package he downloaded from Rock Stars Recipes. Like almost all boys, Ben used to be in a band in high school, but has played his guitars maybe a total of three times since we've been married (19-yrs-minus-24-days) , so I'm looking forward to some serenading outside my wool stash room. Finally!!

It's so this-century we needed to download programs to try to get him off the computer a bit.

My Turn Again?

I've been stuck at home most days for the last few weeks, except on Fridays. So when Ben asks, "Have you got a pic for the DP?", all I have are weaving pics, or deconstruction/reconstruction pics. Mate!

I Can Still be Surprised by The Internet

There was a girl, Lalla, who lived down the hall in my college dormitory. This is back in the mid/late 70's. She lived in Africa and the Middle East in her youth, and had an exciting life up to college; our school was small and quiet and, well, uneventful. She belonged to the Minnesota Weavers' Guild and bussed down University Avenue to weave, often, and said I should give it a go. I was too busy with booz and boys then, though I always thought one day I would tag along. I didn't.

I can't remember when we lost touch; probably the year I had off and spent at home working, which could have been the year she graduated. I regretted not having exchanged contact info. I've though of her in the weaving context, but not in the blogging/Internet/connecting sense.

On Saturday, my high school friend coaxed me to get on Facebook, which I did reluctantly. After a day of finding my way around it, I found Lalla. And now she's knows what I do, and has seen some of my weaving pics.

Imagine that. After all these years.
