Cafe Front

Scanned from recent roll of 35mm colour negative. converted to B&W.

I May made some mistake i n scanning setting for this frame and colour is bit too strong in contrast but turns out OK for B&W.

Along the line of theme day theme "Out of Focus" and topic of film photograph,  This photo ( well took with digital and it is colour photo ) from my stock taken this 15/October/2016.
Is anyone still shoot with Film? It changes your mind facing to the subject a bit :)

Once in a while. I shoot with film. Just got the roll developed and scanned.

This is one of my fav frame from it and also a symbol of fav cafe.

I selected about 1/4 of frame fro the roll and as I intended converted to B&W.  Those will be show up on my other blog.  However if I liked in colour form I may sneak in to here as it all from Nelson CBD.

I broke my favourite ACF coffee cup and only to find thee is no where to buy a replacement.
It's a brown tulip style latte cup whcih I used for only to have triple-shot long black.
I like not fill the cup to the top entirely, and nicely fitted under my Bottomless Portafilter.

I missed that cup even I wasn't used it every occasion.

Looked at few shop and online

I settled ACME cappuccino cup (190ml) in light-blue (for this time) whcih is more flat style.  I like the tulip style more but I was only able to find find normal long black one (140ml) is tad small for "triple" and I already have one.

Other shop has quite attractive matt blue and orange cups but no one has that large tulip any more...

At least held the template well as the ACF one.

Mike's Posse

Ben posted a group shot of these guys last year. The "aviator" was gone yesterday, and I think the remaining two are pirates.

They are, from what I can tell by looking but not touching, made of calico, stuffing, gesso, paint and accessories. I've been enamored by how well they are made and have been thinking of trying my hand creating my own posse, of a bunch of chubby, grumpy middle-aged ladies.
Mike is a well known Green Party activist, former MP, former City Councillor and former mayoral candidate, a long-time Coast to Coast athlete and a jewelry maker.

The Old but Improved Suter Art Gallery Te Aratoi o Whakatu

The temporary Suter on Bridge Street closed last Sunday, and the old but improved Suter will reopen on October 2. The building on the right is the original gallery, est 1899, (some history here,) and was refurbished some years earlier.
The new glass part is the reception/ticketing area, and further back is the new shop space. To the left is the much loved theater, which was in danger of demolition in the earlier, fancier rebuild plans; it's the home of many film festivals, unique performances as well as occasional lectures. The cafe remains will return to the same area, behind the theater and to the left of the new shop.
My understanding is most of the additions occurred at the back of the building, (left of the big tree,) mainly for storage, a classroom for school groups, and studio space for the Nelson Suter Art Society, with a modest increase in the gallery space, but I could be wrong. From the Queens Gardens side, you can see the top of the original gallery to the right of the big tree, above the cafe, with the roof of the theater to the far right. I'm sure we'll be showing you more of the Suter in the months to come.

Now, Jamie, please listen to your teacher and keep your clothes on. (The name of the not-so-innocent was changed to protect the not-so-innocent.)

Casualty at Ben's Work

This is Fred. Fred is a tall man without a visible (from some distance) head. I found him lying in the parking lot at Ben's work.

Fred and Wilma are dummies starring in maritime rescue training in Wellington this weekend. They will be thrown into the water and humans will jump in and save them. I wanted to ask more, but the two instructors were busy strapping Fred in a backseat of a van with a large boat motor between his legs so he doesn't fidget during the trip. Best of luck to all four.

Allergy Season has Arrived

We are used to seeing roofs and cars covered in yellow pine pollen this time of the year, but neither of us recall witnessing a near-cloud formation over Rabbit Island.

Meg will be out of commission for the next few months.
